Science Diplomacy

The Fulbright Finland Foundation hosted a 90-minute dialogue yesterday (NOV 21) between Fulbright Finland grantees and Pekka Haavisto, Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs. The discussions we had were wide ranging and covered numerous topics including climate change and other pressing global challenges, indigenous people, pandemic response, effective communication of science to the public, among other topics. Minister Haavisto had an amazing grasp of these challenges and highlighted ways that Finland, the United States, the EU and others can work collectively to meet these challenges.

This is yet another example of the many ways that the Fulbright Finland Foundation works to enrich our experiences as Fulbright grant participants. Later this week they have arranged several events to help celebrate the United States’ Thanksgiving holiday (no U.S. football though).
